Goodbye Sugar, Parting is such un-sweet sorrow

As if the dietary no-no column in our house wasn't long enough... I just found out that I am allergic to sugar! Any kind of sweetener is now taboo: cane sugar, beet sugar, maple sugar/syrup, molasses, honey, agave nectar and artificial sweeteners. The only safe 'sweet' things are low glycemic fruits and stevia. That doesn't leave much. However, the side benefit to all of this no sugar nonsense is a smaller number on the scale and that makes me happy. Stay tuned for my tales on my no sugar adventure.

Take a moment

This is me, right now, Tuesday, April 17th, 2012. Take a minute and try it you might surprise yourself. Leave a note for me in the comments., I can’t wait to see what you come up with!

I was… thin and healthy once at the same time, really

I am … proud of myself for supporting my daughter throughout all of her recently acquired dietary restrictions

I think … I should write more

I wonder … if Earth is the only place ‘beings’ live

I wish … that my kids’ migraines and other chronic ailments would go away or that we can find a way to make them

I save … snippets from our every day stuff {and now I have a place to put it thanks to Project Life / @ Becky Higgins!}

I always … put Vaseline on my lips before I go to bed

I can’t imagine … what my life would be like if I hadn’t met my husband right before I graduated college.

I believe … that if you really want something bad enough and you put in the effort that your dreams will become reality

I promise … to keep scrapbooking

I love … that my kids are fortunate enough to have wonderful relationships with my parents

Just call me peg leg...

Every morning for the past two weeks, I've been gimping around for the first hour or so in the morning. My right heel has been hurting pretty bad. It wasn't to the point of being in screaming pain, but enough to be terribly annoying. After practically falling down yesterday when getting out of bed, I figured I'd better do something about it and quick. So, I went to the doctor today to confirm my suspicions, and I apparently have plantar fasciitis. It is basically an inflammation in the heel pad. Just in case you were wondering, it kind of feels like there's a big elastic band going from the back of your heel to the middle of the bottom of your foot that won't let you stretch it like it should. And by the way, yes it does hurt, and not only when you stand on it. The worst part is in the morning. This 42 year old bladder wakes up way before this bum foot is ready to make a mad-dash for the bathroom!

Nothing really to write home about, but it seems my body keeps sending me little signals to remind me I'm getting older (as if those tiny growing crow's feet aren't indication enough). I'm totally ok with the increasing number associated with my birthday, but I am not ok with feeling like I'm twice my age. So here I sit, icing my heel, trying to freeze the fasciitis away. Wish me luck, and if you see someone walking around the neighborhood looking like a pirate, don't worry, that's just me. However if you see me with a parrot and an eye patch....well, that's for another day.

Writing about me

I'm currently taking a class called Me: The Abridged Version through BPS. I get the opportunity to write about what makes me tick...from A to Z. The class is inspired by the book Encyclopedia of an Ordinary Life. It's been quite an interesting journey trying to define myself letter by letter. So far I've designed my pages by color scheme and I've started writing a bit. I'm interested to find out how it all ends up. I always take time to make scrapbook pages about the rest of my family, now I suppose it's my turn. Now everyone will really know what makes me tick, maybe a little bit too much? I don't know yet :-)
